The Kansas Department of Health and Environment wanted help developing a public campaign about testing for lead poisoning in children six and under. Lead exposure is more common than many people think and is dangerous at any level. Children can suffer from brain development delays if they are exposed. The only way to treat or address lead is by first doing a blood test.
MB Piland developed the campaing: Draw the Line on Lead. The videos and digital ads address the top three sources of lead exposure and urge parents and caregivers to request a blood test for their children if they suspect exposure, with both English and Spanish versions. The campaign ran online and on social platforms. It was also distributed as a public service message to stations statewide, with emphasis in areas where lead exposure has been more prevalent.
