No Zone treatment

The Kansas Highway Patrol received a federal grant to fund an educational safety campaign directed to the public. The focus: safe driving around commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). Crashes with CMVs—which are often deadly—are sometimes the result of smaller vehicles driving the blind spots that mirrors can't catch. These blind spots are dubbed the No Zone.

MB Piland created a quirky, eye-catching campaign to help people quickly learn about the No Zone and why it's important to avoid it. Errant drivers had an unexpected guest (a man in a chicken suit, a bee costume and a T-rex) pop up in the car to give the driver a brief (and stern) lecture.

The campaign included broadcast PSAs, online video, radio, streaming services, digital display and social—in English and Spanish. These spots can be viewed on our YouTube channel here.
