Martha Bartlett Piland was honored March 23 as ABWA Career Chapter 2010 Woman of Outstanding Achievement. A luncheon in her honor raises scholarship funds for women pursuing a degree at Washburn University.

"It's exciting to receive this award and to know that the honor has a lasting effect—creating opportunity for women through education," says Piland. "Who knows how lives will be touched by these scholarships? We're helping fulfill important dreams for the future."

Media coverage about the event can be found at CJOnline and WIBW Channels.

The annual event has raised over $250,000 in scholarships, according to Maggie Kelley, Public Relations Co-Chair for ABWA Career Chapter. More than 300 women have received scholarships since the inception of the even in 1983. More information about the organization can be found at: http://www.abwa-career.org/
