Martha Bartlett Piland receives Washburn University Non Nobis Solum Award

MB Piland founder Martha Bartlett Piland has been honored with the Non Nobis Solum Alumni Award from the Washburn University School of Mass Media.

The award has been scheduled to be presented at the Mass Media banquet on the Washburn campus in April 2020.

This award is bestowed yearly on an alumus to honor his or her achievements in career, public/civic service and volunteer activities that are worthy of recognition and bring honor to the Department of Mass Media and Washburn University.

Dapartment chair and professor Maria Stover, PhD says, "We believe that Washburn's Latin motto, Non Nobis Solum, which can be translated as “Not for ourselves alone,” encapsulates not only Martha's outstanding career achievements, but her notable contributions to the community and her alma mater."

"This selection reflects our pride in your exceptional professional accomplishments, your contributions as a community benefactor, and your position as a role model for our students and alumni," says Stover.

"I had an exceptional start to my career, thanks in large part to Washburn and its excellent faculty. I'm very honored to receive this recognition," Martha says.

Martha is a graduate of Washburn University with a BA in 1986 and often returns to campus to speak to students in Mass Media and the School of Business. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Washburn.
